July 13 Meeting with Speaker Richard Cowl
An industrial chemistry graduate from London University and a music scholar at the Guildhall School of Music (London) Richard was initially employed by Courtaulds (now part of Akzo Nobel) at their UK headquarters. Expat spells followed in Houston, Barcelona, Malaysia, Italy and Dubai which he called home for 23 years.
Interest in Iran began in 1999 with transmission pipeline projects as Iran was seen to provide an important business opportunity. Not only did Iran become one of their largest accounts, but it followed him into married life.
His Iranian wife Zoe, who was also based in Dubai, was the owner of the most important publishing agency in the Middle East, from which, they then created the most diverse literary agency in the Middle East. Now retired in Marbella, their life now involves golf, food and preparing for the Camino de Santiago starting from France !
