What would it take to change the world?

Rotary's 1.2 million members believe it starts with a commitment to Service Above Self.

It all started over 100 years ago from a small group of people with a common vision.

The rotary mission

The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Rotary began in 1905 with the vision of one man. A Chicago attorney, Paul Harris, formed a club for professionals with diverse backgrounds, to build friendships, network, and help the local community.

16 years after its founding Rotary had clubs on six continents. There are now more than 35,000 clubs worldwide and over 1.2 million members. Members volunteer their time to

  • to combat disease, (we have almost eradicated Polio)

  • provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene

  • increase education and literacy

  • grow local economies

  • and protect the environment.

The members are leaders from all professions and use their professional skills to help those who cannot help themselves.

The Rotary Club of Marbella-Guadalmina helps both in the immediate local area, the region, and internationally.  You can read more about our projects here.

In addition to individual projects of each club, there are large international aid projects organized by the umbrella organization of Rotary International and funded by the central Rotary Foundation.  The projects are independent of nationality, political affiliation or religious denomination. You can find out more here.

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it; Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”
